About the IDEAS QI Program

IDEAS provides an introduction to the fundamentals of quality improvement for clinical and administrative health professionals who hold a variety of roles and disciplines across the continuum of care. The goal of the program is to promote a common language and approach to quality improvement in Ontario. The program includes asynchronous self-learning eLearning modules followed by two synchronous half-day virtual learning workshops. Throughout the course, learners will be introduced to key quality improvement concepts and tools that will allow them to contribute more effectively to quality improvement projects within or across organizations. Special attention is paid to understanding the quality improvement project journey and measurement for improvement.

At successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Apply the principles of quality improvement for healthcare
  2. Explain a quality improvement aim in accordance with the Model for Improvement
  3. Explain sources of the change ideas and explain in accordance with the Model for Improvement
  4. Contribute to the application of tools in team settings
  5. Explain the application of measurement in accordance with the Model for Improvement
  6. Collaborate with interprofessional team members to contribute effectively on a QI team
